Why am I involved with the Arul Trust? – Today: Günter Haritz

Today we introduce our club member, Günter Haritz. The Arul Trust is proud to have a true celebrity among its ranks: former professional cyclist Günter Haritz. Günter Haritz was the 1972 Munich Olympic champion in the German track four, a two-time world champion (1970 and 1973), a member of the 1973 West German team of the year, a two-time European champion (1974 and 1976), a seven-time German champion, and an eleven-time winner of six-day races. After his successful professional career, he opened the "Günter Haritz Radsport" specialty shop in Leimen in 1981.

Günter Haritz says of his membership in the Arul Trust Association:

"Firstly, I have a connection with Pastor Arul Lourdu through cycling. I always serviced and prepared Pastor Lourdu's bike for his multi-day tours to Santiago de Compostela or Kevelaer. Secondly, as a devout Christian, I have always had very good access to Pastor Lourdu. Over the years, a warm and trusting relationship has developed.

When Pastor Lourdu approached me in 2022, after the founding of the Arul Trust, whether I would like to become a member, I didn't have to think twice. Helping poor people all over the world is important to me, and so I was very happy to become a member of the association. I also have complete confidence that, with Pastor Lourdu and his board team, the membership fees and donations will actually reach where they are needed.

We are very pleased about Günter Haritz’s vote of confidence in our charity work and thank you very much for the conversation.
