A work of love
Christians refer to the period from Ash Wednesday to Easter as Lent or the Easter season of penance. During these 40 days of fasting, many of us abstain from certain foods, indulgences, or perhaps from media such as television or the internet. However, simple abstinence without a spiritual dimension might be healthy for body and mind, but in the context of faith, it would certainly not be the goal of Christian fasting. The aim of fasting is to embark on a path of repentance and conversion through abstinence, concentration on what is essential, and accompanying prayer.
Abstaining from consumption also has a social component. The money saved through abstinence shouldn't be hoarded or set aside. Acts of charity are also part of Christian fasting.
The Arul Trust, through its work helping those in need around the world, is a true act of charity. Wouldn't your participation and donation also be an act of love for you?
